The installation of the 4 new Sluice Key Valves have proven
to be a huge success. We are now able to isolate the mains
water on holes 1, 9 and 10 individually, or as a group from
the rest of the course, enabling us to undertake irrigation
repairs without having to shut water off from the rest of the
course. Given the success of the valves, we have another 5 on
order and will be installing them where other valves are
failing due to corrosion.
We have started our drainage program for this winter. Jobs
completed so far are on the RHS of the 3rd green, in front of
the 9th green and on the driving range near the nursery green.
After only being in for a couple of weeks they are showing
good signs of working effectively, with both areas being
relatively drier now, than before the installation.
There are many more areas earmarked for further works on
holes 3, 5, 8, 9, 14, behind the chipping green and around the
putting green. Hopefully we will be able to complete most of
these before summer arrives.
Fortunately for us we have been hit with a semi-
respectable amount of rain this winter. This has allowed us to
start some winter planting of native tube stock to replenish
the garden beds that have suffered from the drought.
