In 2003 Sanctuary Lakes was awarded the Urban Development Institute of Australia Award for Environmental Excellence in recognition of the outstanding regeneration of flora and fauna and the ongoing environmental and water conservation practices.  Sanctuary Lakes Resort is continuously focused on the encouragement of birdlife and other wildlife through the creation of special wetlands, parks and plantings.

In 2004 Sanctuary Lakes Resort was also awarded the HIA Green Smart award in recognition for environmental achievements in building and construction focusing on sustainable outcomes.
